Family Drama

His children didn't even come to his funeral. When Harrison's first wife died, he married her niece; for which his children disowned him. Fatherhood vs. manhoood choices can be tough, or at least that's the experience of Indiana's only U.S. President, Benjamin Harrison (1889-1893). My tour of his 16 room Italianate Victorian mansion included family gossip. It's too bad his blood relations didn't learn what gay's have to learn early-on, "It's Love [not blood] that makes a Family." Any drama in your family?

  1. No Drama in my perfect Family! LOL. If there isn't Drama in your family you are either lying or dead! We all need a dose of drama to keep it interesting. Don't we?

  2. Drama keeps the conversations flowing. Otherwise, what we have to talk about?

  3. [kcc said] Haha! Are you kidding? My oldest brother is the biggest drama queen on the planet. He has had enough scandals to fill three books. At least we haven’t disowned him. Lol.

  7. [MDB said] There all good days if handled correctly! Saw Uncle Sam this morning, he seems to be doing fine. I brought him a plant for his room. He said "Very nice, very nice!" BTW, we owe you for the movie--next time our treat!

  8. That's fantastic about Uncle Sam; and I guess that means you pick the movie if you pay? I don't like that deal much :-)

  13. Never heard of it but it has Julia Roberts in it, so Greg'll love it I'm sure. Maybe he has heard of it. I just read something in USA Today and I'm still not sure what it is but if there's "pray" in it, it must be pretty good! lol

  16. [Jason said] Harrison's family will have to deal with that karma for life. How can you turn your back on blood and justify it? There are those who say if a person can not love his own family or even find love in their own family, then its hard for them to know HOW to love anyone else.

UNFORTUNATELY, I think that very common in today's world. We look outside of family for strength, approval and recognition because we are afraid to open our hearts and let go. Is it fear, hate, ignorance? Family is a true blessing from God, to turn your back on that blessing is a sin, regardless of the issue and you don't need to be gay to figure that one out.

Who am I to tell God, his blessing isn't good enough for me? Or to tell God I don't need that blessing because I can't get over my own issues. At the end of the day we all have to look at the man in the mirror and be responsible for OUR OWN issues and faults.

I prefer the love of my family, I don't beleive there is anything that can come in between that love or make me turn my back on that love. How can cast a stone? Thats what family is about isn't it? Working together, unconditional love (the kind that doesn't ware off). If anyone has drama in their family, check your self and see if you have contributed to it and what you have done to remove the drama. Have you thrown any stones? Have a blessed day people.

  17. I have a friend, many friends in fact, whose blood relations reject them because they are gay. They've had to form their own families based on love and not blood. You may not agree but it's true, and it's not their faults that the family of bloodline has caused them damage. Sure, they could hide their identity. They could live to be like someone else but in the end, it is their purpose in life to become themselves and not someone their family wants them to be. You may not agree but that's because your experience has been different; and I am happy for you. By the way, it is not a "sin" to turn your back on family. The 4th commandment speaks of mother/father only. Also, Jason, just because you don't agree with something does not make it a sin. When I see my gay & lesbian brothers & sisters making families for themselves, I know it is from love and not sin. What is sin? Falling short of love, and only Love Makes a Family.
